AI is no longer just a technology story. It is becoming a human resilience story.
A new report worth reading comes from Elon University’s Imagining the Digital Future Center. Some 82% of the global experts surveyed said AI will play a significantly larger role in shaping people’s lives and key societal functions within the next decade or less. Personally, I think that may be a low estimate.
The larger point is even more important: individual grit alone will not be enough. As AI increasingly influences work, communication, access to opportunity and everyday decisions, leaders will need wisdom to strengthen:
- Human agency
- Trust
- Discernment
- Ethical decision-making
- Social connection
The report introduces the idea of existential literacy: helping people preserve purpose, identity and humanity in an algorithm-driven world.
That may be the leadership challenge of our time. We have an extraordinary opportunity to use AI to expand human capability, increase access to knowledge and help solve problems at a scale that once seemed impossible. At the same time, we need to protect the qualities that make us distinctly human.
AI may be the revolutionary amplifier of our time. Humanity is still our compass. Wisdom and human values will matter enormously in how we shape what comes next.
